# Competency Terminology

| Term                | Definition                                                                                                                                                                               |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Competency          | A verified qualification, induction, pre-start, refresher, or code requirement that a worker must hold before accessing certain tasks.                                                   |
| Competency Type     | The category of competency. Supported types include \*\*Induction\*\*, \*\*Pre-start\*\*, \*\*Refresher Training\*\*, and custom types configured by an organisation.                    |
| Competency Library  | The central catalogue of all competencies in the system, organised by type and mapped to unique IDs.                                                                                     |
| Competency ID       | A unique reference assigned to each competency for tracking and audit.                                                                                                                   |
| Competency Evidence | PDFs, images, certificates, or other documents that confirm a worker has completed the required learning material.                                                                       |
| Competency Register | The live record of workers who have been issued one or more competencies, including expiry dates and issue dates.                                                                        |
| Competency Gateway  | The automated check that runs when a worker opens an Inspection or submits a Checklist. The gateway compares the worker’s Competency Register entry against the requirement of the task. |
| Expiry              | The date after which a competency is no longer valid and the worker must renew it.                                                                                                       |
| Due Date            | The expected renewal or refresh date shown in the app and in reports.                                                                                                                    |
