# Tasks

A task is a piece of work, always relating an asset, assigned to a user (s) to complete by a set date at a priority level. The Task subsystem allows you or your team to complete assigned tasks.

You can create tasks as part of your inspection process or as a standalone activity.

The different types of tasks include:

1. **Safety** (for thorough-examinations)
2. **Checkup** (for pre-starts, before use and after-use) and
3. **Maintenance** (for calibrations)

You can create your own tasks and associate them with the task types in the [System Default](#_Quick_Setup_Checklist) page.

**Safety Task types** – these tasks update the Last inspection date and calculate the Next inspection date.

**Checkup Task types** – these tasks update the Last Inspection Date and calculates the next checkup date.

**Maintenance Task types** – these tasks update the Last Inspection Date and calculates the next Maintenance date.
